16U Red team advances to IL Cup Semifinal on Sat 6/1/24 in Rockford

The 16s were playing North Shore FC in their last group game of the IL Cup. The Eagles needed a win to advance to the semifinals and North Shore FC put up a fight. They started the scoring in thec1st half and at the end Phillip Ostrowski kicked a free kick goal to make it 1-2. The referee called halftime right when the lightning alarm went off and we had a 25 minute storm delay.

Second half was very physical and momentum changed when Max Ciszek scored a very strange free kick goal from his own half where the ball bounced at edge of box and then over the goalies head into goal, making it 2-2. Very strong game and then Leeangelo Lopez earned a penalty kick, scoring to make it 3-2. Then Christopher Gama scored a banger from the left side making it the final score of 4-2. What a comeback! What a game!
